The vineyards are located in the ancient valley of Oddoene and framed by the chain of mountains named the Supramonte of the Gennargentu to one side and Mount Tuluj on the other. This mounts separate the valley from the sea of Cala Gonone.
The land is loose with a good combination of alluvial soil. The excellent working surface and a thorough analysis of vertical sections measuring up to two meters in depth has allowed for a deeper knowledge of the soil chemistry. This allows in making an appropriate choice of rootstocks. A particular choice of many clones of the Cannonau type originating from choice areas of the territory has allowed in creating a multiversity of species which contribute in making the ATHA RUJA wines extraordinarily harmonious, complex, scented, flavored, and loaded in phenol compounds. The work in the vineyards is largely manual, both the soil and the wine strains are supervised by an ever watchful human eye. Ready hands are always handy for all the stages of pruning, polling, thinning stages and ultimately the harvesting phase completed exclusively by hand and carried out during the cooler hours of the day. The production of the vines is mostly in standard tree shapes with 50-year old stubs. The remaining plants are a spurred cordon of six thousand plants per hectare.
The territory, passion and quality.
